I am planning to bring my mum, Joy Stasinowsky, nee Fox up to the centenary celebrations as she was born in Berri in 1925 and was a student at the school until she left to go to work.
As I can’t bring her up more than once we are debating whether to come up for the ‘Back to Berri’ dinner on the 8th October or the School Centenary dinner on the 29th.
What I am asking is if there are other things we can do on the Friday or the Saturday? You mention an open day on the 28th but is this just for students or open to all?
We are regular visitors to the area as my Dad was born in Loxton and we try an come up every year for a weekend but now Mum is older there are very few old friends for her to visit.
Any information you can give me would be great. Thankyou.

Hi Jan, I have passed on your request to the Berri Primary School so that they can provide you with more information about the Primary School Centenary celebrations. In regards to the ‘Back to Berri Dinner’ planned for the evening of Saturday 8th October 2011, there will be a Berri History exhibition in the Town Hall for the week leading up to the dinner and finishing on Sunday 9th (so this could be something else to attend if coming to the dinner).

I will be attending the Dinner, but unfortunately not able to return to my home town for the Primary School event, due to my nursing career duties…yes, I am still nursing….nearly 50 years…. I have worked with the Aged for 40 years. I began my nursing career in Berri with Margaret Lewis.
I married a Queenslander in Townsville , but am now widowed. I have 1 daughter and 4 sons. The 2 eldest sons are my stepsons. I was married for 36 years. Have travelled overseas over the past 3 years to England, Ireland, Europe… and last year travelled to Japan with my youngest son, John and his Japanese wife to spend a holiday with Chie’s folks in Osaka.
I am looking forward to meeting previous residents of Berri. Sorry to inform my friends that Robert Edmonds has passed on some years ago . We lived in the same street, Shiraz Street, with Rosemary Jones, Max Baker, Judy and Ron Obst, Noreen Jones. Hopefully I will meet up with some of the school friends at the Dinner on the 8th October. Regards, Lorraine Fullerton, nee Draper.

Following with interest the “Back to Berri” events on the Net and really disappointed not to be able to attend.
Really enjoyed the re-union in Adelaide but currently overseas. Born and grew up in Berri , currently live in Melbourne. Wish every success to the organisers and ‘hello’ again to the many people I saw in Adelaide.

Have just been contacted by Allayne Frankel re Berri PS celebrations on the weekend. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend due to family commitments.
I taught my very first ()2 enjoyable years at Berri from 1971-72 and formed some great friendships.
I continued teaching in Adelaide and the Barossa and retired from teaching just this year. My wife currently teaches with Robyn Mills(nee Watson) a former student and whom I taught with at Ardtornish PS for a short while!
Good luck with the celebrations and ”Hi” to my former students, staff and friends.
